W. Mark Wigmore

Mark has been a full-time, independent ADR professional and business consultant for more than 20 years, since the founding of Avalon Consulting in 2004. He has served on more than 200 arbitration panels (80+ awards) including as panel chair in arbitrations seated in the U.S., Bermuda and Canada. Mark’s arbitration practice focuses on the financial services sector, including reinsurance, all lines of insurance, banking and professional liability matters. He is listed with AAA, CPR, ARIAS, FINRA, and LCIA. In addition, Mark has served as mediator (CEDR-certified), discovery master and advisor to parties in arbitration. Prior to the formation of Avalon, Mark was the President and CEO of St. Paul Reinsurance, Inc., managing all of St. Paul’s reinsurance operations in the U.S., U.K. and Europe. He was an independent board member of Electric Insurance Company (General Electric’s insurance subsidiary) from 2013 through early 2025, until the break-up of GE and its exit from the insurance business, and was Chair of the EIC Audit Committee for more than a decade. He holds both a J.D. and an M.B.A.
