Stephen E. Smith

Steve has over 35 years experience in handling a wide variety of disputes as counsel, arbitrator, and mediator. Smith served as Vice President and General Counsel in senior legal positions at Lockheed Martin Corporation, the world’s largest aerospace and defense company, for nearly 30 years before taking early retirement in 2011. After that, for over five years, he was a Member at Sherman and Howard, LLC, one of the largest law firms based in Denver, Colorado where he co-chaired the International Arbitration and Space Law practice groups. In May of 2017 Steve established Steve Smith ADR LLC where he concentrates his practice on arbitrating and mediating large, complex high technology cases and as an expert witness in such cases. Smith is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), a member of AAA’s Large Complex case panel, a founding member of the AAA/ICDR’s Aerospace, Aviation and National Security Panel of Arbitrators and Mediators a and a retired member of the AAA Council and US delegate to the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR. Steve has served as arbitrator, mediator or expert witness in major proceedings before the world’s leading arbitration institutions including AAA/ICDR, ICC, LCIA and the Singapore and Hong Kong International Arbitration Centres. Those matters have involved U.S. and foreign, and civil and common, laws. He is co-author of Successful Partnering Between Inside and Outside Counsel published by the Association of Corporate Counsel and West Publishing.
