For seven years he was Deputy General Counsel of a major financial services company with global responsibility for litigation, employment, IP and other areas. Mike's responsibilities were broad based, both geographically and in areas of law. From 2008-15 he spent about 1/3 of each year in London, and managed litigation, arbitration, mediation, employment and other matters in the U.K., France, Brazil, Hong Kong, Philippines, Singapore, Australia, Canada, Japan and several other countries. In-house litigators, employment and patent lawyers reported to him. One of three senior global lawyers, he had broad based engagement with contract, deal, tax, securities, compliance, general IP and other in-house lawyers. He led the lawyering for an acquisition and negotiated and reviewed many contracts with suppliers and customers. In practice he handled commercial, financial, governance, employment and regulatory matters.

Before that he was a full time commercial litigator for 30 years handling a wide range of cases. He has litigated patents and copyrights to judgment and both represented and sued countries.

Mike has a Diploma in International Arbitration from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), is a Fellow of CIArb, and was Secretary of the NY Branch. Mike is also on AAA, CPR, WIPO and Court of Arbitration for Art panels of both arbitrators and mediators, and has sat on LCIA and HuntADR tribunals. Mike is on the Panel of the Business Arbitration Scheme of the Dispute Appointment Service of the CIArb. Mike is a CEDR Accredited Mediator, having completed CEDR's advanced training and the American Arbitration Association's basic training for mediators. He is on the SDNY, NYComDiv & DNJ Panels of mediators. Mike is a member of several bar related groups concerned with arbitration and mediation in New York, including ICC/USCIB and IAC NY and is its web curator. He has co-chaired tow CPR Task Forces He is an associate member of the UK Employment Lawyers Association and in its Register of Mediators. He is a member of the Silicon Valley Arbitration and Mediation Center. Listed in Juris Arbitration Law's Roster of International Arbitrators. Mike teaches a course at Hofstra Law School in the Autumn on the Law and Role of In House Counsel.
