Joshua W. Martin

Joshua Martin is senior counsel at Potter Anderson & Corroon LLP, where he concentrates his law practice on arbitration and mediation.  He has over 40 years of experience handling alternative dispute resolution matters.  Josh is a former President and CEO of Verizon Delaware, where he oversaw all aspects of Verizon’s telecommunications business within the State of Delaware.  He previously served as General Counsel of Verizon’s predecessor company, Bell Atlantic Delaware.  Prior to joining Bell Atlantic he was a Delaware Superior Court Judge.  Prior to joining the Court, Josh was a patent attorney at Hercules Incorporated while also chairing the Delaware Public Service Commission.  With an academic background in Physics and Materials Engineering, he did research and development for the DuPont Company.  His ADR experience includes multi-million-dollar settlements in high-profile mediation cases in addition to substantial experience as an arbitrator.  He has served as an arbitrator under the AAA, ICDR and CPR rules.  He was on the Special Master Panel of the U. S. District Court in Delaware until 2015 and has served as a Special Master in the District Court in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.  He is a Fellow in the College of Commercial Arbitrators and is on the Tech List of the Silicon Valley Arbitration and Mediation Center.  He is also a member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals.  He has been a corporate board director at Southwest Power Pool, Inc., SCANA Corporation, Nuclear Electric Insurance LTD and PNC Bank Delaware and has served as a trustee on numerous non-profit boards.  He is a past chair of the Delaware State Bar Association.  He was included in The Best Lawyers in America publication for 2007-2025, was selected in 2013 and 2017 as Lawyer of the Year for Arbitration in Wilmington and designated Lawyer of the Year for Mediation in Wilmington in 2019, 2021 and 2025.
