Javier Rubinstein

Javier is the former Global General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer of PricewaterhouseCoopers International. He is an independent arbitrator for domestic and international commercial and investment treaty arbitrations. Javier is based in Chicago, with a 35-year career dedicated to international dispute resolution. Javier previously led the international arbitration practices at Kirkland & Ellis LLP and Mayer Brown LLP, and most recently was a partner in the international arbitration group at King & Spalding LLP before launching his solo practice. He has participated in arbitrations before many of the world’s leading arbitral institutions, including the International Court of Arbitration of the ICC, the American Arbitration Association-International Centre for Dispute Resolution, the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes, the Permanent Court of Arbitration and the Court of Arbitration for Sport, as well as ad hoc arbitrations conduced under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules. A native of Argentina, Javier regularly conducts arbitrations in English and Spanish. Since 1996, Javier has served on the faculty at the University of Chicago Law School, where he teaches international commercial and investment treaty arbitration. Javier is a member of the arbitrator panels of the International Centre for Dispute Resolution, the Singapore International Arbitration Centre and the CPR Panel of Distinguished Neutrals. Javier also leads the Chicago International Arbitration Center and is a member of the New York International Arbitration Club.
