Debbie Reperowitz

Debbie Reperowitz combines 20+ years of law firm practice with years of C-level experience at publicly traded companies. She is a former Senior Vice President, head of litigation and preventative law at CIT Group Inc., then a Fortune 500 financing and leasing company. While at CIT, Debbie managed the company’s litigation and government investigations worldwide and assisted the company in identifying and mitigating potential litigation risks. She also assisted in the company’s transition to a bank holding company and its successful six-week bankruptcy.

Debbie also is the former General Counsel of Fairholme Capital Management, advisor to Fairholme Funds LLC, where Debbie served on the board of directors. During Debbie’s tenure, Fairholme Funds had AUM exceeding $20 billion. While at Fairholme, Debbie worked with senior management and conducted diligence on investment opportunities.

Previously, Debbie was a partner in the Restructuring & Insolvency group at Reed Smith. Currently she is Senior Counsel at Stradley Ronon. For more than 10 years, Debbie has focused her practice on ADR, serving as a neutral in more than 130 commercial disputes involving financial services, bankruptcy, breach of contract, fraud, defamation, accounting malpractice, and discovery issues.  Debbie is listed as an arbitrator and mediator on several panels, including those maintained by the American Arbitration Association (Complex Commercial and Bankruptcy) and CPR (Financial Services). She also is included on the list of mediators maintained by the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.  Debbie is the past Treasurer of the New York State Bar Association, Dispute Resolution Section and the past president of the New York City chapter of the Turnaround Management Association. For the past three years, she has been ranked nationally by Chambers as a leading mediator.
